Islam is Work

Hello. So school has finally started for me :(. It's a tragedy I can't believe summer has ended so soon, and I'm sure many of you feel the same way. Ah well nothing we can do about it, unless someone wants to sneak into the board of education's building kidnap the president and force him at gun point to ban school forever, anyone volunteers as tribute? No takers? Ok then :(. So last week I gave a list of Muslim multimedia's (see previous blog post). Some books I read though depict Islam too perfectly like the characters don't really struggle with Islam they get up to pray fajr or some other prayer and the main character just says I feel so much peace and sincerity. And I'm not saying that never happens but what books sometimes forget to depict that Islam is work a lot of times, sometimes you don't get that special feeling after praying sometimes it takes a lot of work to get up in the middle of sleep, and I am under no circumstance saying that's it's not worth it and you should give up, I'm saying it's ok if u get that feeling of laziness at times as long as you continue with what's required.  Just because you feel lazy doesn't mean you're any less of a good Muslim then the next person it just means your only human (who else started singing Human by Christina Peri). Some Muslims never pray because they are waiting for that one moment when they feel enlightened about praying or something else but no most of the time that's not what happens. You just need to put in the effort. It's not always a perfect relationship as described in books, and trust me that is totally fine. Many people do struggle with their religion, just don't give up. And under no circumstance does this just apply to Islamic religions also I'm not trying to insult anyone by writing this post. Au revoir don't forget to comment or share!

Islamic Mutimedia

Bonjour mes amis!
These are just a few books/movies/or apps about or pertaining to Islam that I think you guys will really like. I really feel like I shouldn't have to say this but unfortunately I do the views expressed in these multimedias are not necessarily mine, alright?

Books
Diamonds and Pearls- this is my absolute favorite Muslim book unfortunately its not published right now the only place you can read the book (which is still ongoing) is wattpad. But trust me this book is a must read. You can read the full summary on wattpad.
Confession of a Muslim Girl- Another amazing book on wattpad that is still ongoing and not published (yet). Fun fact the author of this book and the author of Diamonds and Pearls are going to collaborate for the sequel of both books
The Garden of my Imaan- I haven't actually read this book..but its on my to read list. You can view the summary here Summary of The Garden of my Imaan. I personally think it seems really interesting

Apps
Muslim Pro- This is an awesome app that my aunt recommended and includes many features such as prayer times with adzan alarm, quibla, quran, islamic calendar, halal places nearby you, etc. Muslim pro review on itunes

Website
Wattpad- My favorite reading website (its also an app) in which non published authors can contribute their work, and contrary to what I previously though there are some really great stories on here. Another plus there is a huge Muslim community on wattpad. Trust me make an account and check out the website. Wattpad website

Movies
Arranged- A really good movie about a friendship between a Muslim and Jewish girl. On a plus side its available on Netflix. Arranged Summary

Keep on Flying

So this week I wasn't really feeling my best, actually that's a lie I was feeling really down and I'm not going to go in a whole lot of detail but I guess I was just stressed over life and how sometimes it seems so pointless to go through this whole study for 12 years, study for 4 more years maybe even study more after that, work, and the die. I plan to be a pediatrician (*inshallah) and I my school is really competitive and SATs are coming up for me so yeah not in the most fun place right now. *Alhamdulilah I had a talk with my mom at 2 am at night. Thanks mama I love you. Aren't moms just awesome. Anyway she was able to calm me down and she said that two things in life I should remember one to always be happy and two to never be stressed and filled with tension. Because Allah  knows what's our destiny and Allah knows what's best for us. So today me dear viewers if your upset over anything it's alright really it's ok to cry and it's ok to be afraid but know that Allah has your back (yes this is to you atheists too). Anyway I would like to dedicate this post to my wonderful mom, I don't know what I would do without her.
$when I say Allah I mean God

Inshallah- if God wills
Alhamdulilah- thanks god

The Five Pillars of Islam

Hallo! So in all honesty this really should have been my first post, but better late than never right? If you’re a practicing Muslims you can more or less ignore this post because you probably know all this already, but hey who knows maybe you might learn something new.
First: Faith in Allah and his messenger. “La illaha ilala Muhammadur rasululah”. Which translates to “there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger” (see below for the correct way to pronounce it if you don’t know)
Second: Prayer. A Muslim has 5 daily obligatory prayers carried out at different times during the da.
·        Fajr- morning prayer
·        Dhuru- afternoon prayer
·        Asr- evening prayer
·        Maghrib- sunset prayer
·        Isha- night prayer
Third: Fasting. During the month of Ramadan (Islamic calendar follows moon cycle) Muslims from all around the world *fast from sunrise to sunset.
Fourth: Charity. Islam places a great importance on giving money to the poor.
Fifth: Pilgrimage. It is required for a Muslim who has enough money and is in good health to go to Saudi Arabia to complete pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime.
